All first-time NMU online students must complete the Online Course Preparation Tutorial for Students. This tutorial helps you get comfortable navigating NMU’s online classroom environment, EduCat. You’ll work through a set of self-paced modules designed to support your success in upcoming courses.
Modules must be completed before the first day of the semester to gain access to your registered courses in EduCat.
What the Tutorial Covers
The tutorial walks you through EduCat and shows you how to move around the online classroom. You’ll complete online modules that help you understand the tools and setup you’ll use once your courses begin.
How Long Does the Course Take?
The tutorial takes about two hours to complete, including a final competency exam. A score of 80% or higher is required.
When Will My Courses Appear in EduCat?
Once you finish the exam with the required score, your courses will appear in EduCat the Saturday before the semester starts for full-term courses or the first Monday of second block courses.
How to Access the Tutorial
- Go to EduCat: educat.nmu.edu
- Log in using your MyNMU user name and password
- Click on: Online Course Preparation Tutorial for Students (see sample course below)
You can return to the tutorial at any time if you want a refresher. It is only required before your first semester.
