All students enrolled in an online course with NMU for the first time are required to complete the Online Course Preparation Tutorial for Students. You’ll become an expert at navigating NMU’s online classroom environment, EduCat, through a series of online modules designed to help you be successful in your courses. Modules are self-paced but must be successfully completed before the first day of the semester to gain access to courses in EduCat for which you are registered.

Online Course Preparation Tutorial Steps:

  • Go to EduCat: educat.nmu.edu
  • Log in using your MyNMU user name and password
  • Click on: Online Course Preparation Tutorial for Students (see sample course below)

This is only required prior to your first semester; however, you can go back and take it as a refresher at any time. The tutorial takes roughly two hours to complete, including a final competency exam. When the exam is completed with an 80% or higher, courses will appear in EduCat the Saturday before the start of the semester for full-term courses or the first Monday of second block courses.
