Online RN to BSN Admission Requirements

Apply to the RN to BSN program with NO FEE and personal support starting with the application and admission process.

  • Eligable applicants must complete an online application to NMU (NO fee to apply)
  • Have earned an associate of applied science degree in nursing from an accredited institution with an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher*
  • Hold a Registered Nursing license free of any restrictions or sanctions

*Conditional admission can be granted in final semester of AND program and pending RN licensure.

Online Bachelor of Science in Nursing, RN to BSN Curriculum

The RN to BSN curriculum consists of 16 core nursing credits and 16 optional leadership credits that lead to a certificate in Applied Workplace Leadership.

NU 311Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice

An examination of nursing research basic principles. This undergraduate research course provides students with the ability to evaluate research and evidence-based research findings for the purpose of improving nursing practice.

NU 411Nursing Care of Populations (Theory)

This courses focuses on population-based nursing. Using a public health perspective, the course focuses on health problems in the community, as well as examinations of local health problems, national health problems and global health problems. Issues related to vulnerable populations, social justice, ethics, economics and health care policy are considered. Primary, secondary and tertiary prevention strategies are integrated throughout the course.

NU 414Nursing Care of Populations for the Practicing Nurse (Clinical)

This course focus on application of concepts learned in NU 411. Students learn to apply these concepts in planning population-based nursing care in community settings.

NU 441Leadership and Management in Nursing (Theory)

This course focuses on the roles and responsibilities related to leadership and management in nursing practice. This includes the impact of nursing management theories, leadership in nursing, processes in nursing practice and the delivery of health care within organizations.

NU 453Professional Nursing Practice (Theory)

An examination of the basic principles of nursing research that provides students with the ability to evaluate research and evidence-based research findings for the purpose of improving nursing practice.

NU 454Professional Nursing Practice (Clinical)

This nursing clinicals course focuses on applying and integrating knowledge gained in previous coursework within a primary, secondary or tertiary care setting, allowing students to enhance the skills necessary to function in a professional role. The student focuses their nursing training on a selected area of practice within the current health care environment.

In addition to the Nursing Core classes, students can choose courses that will lead to an optional LEADERSHIP CERTIFICATE.
