What is a Course Management System (and what is WebCT)?

A course management system (CMS) is a web-based software program that provides a set of tools for performing course activities and sharing information. NMU's course management system is commonly known as WebCT. Many instructors of classroom-based courses use WebCT for posting their syllabus, collecting assignments, giving exams, holding discussions outside of class, and other activities. NMU also offers many courses that are conducted completely online in WebCT. Whatever major is, chances are that some or all of your instructors will use some aspect of the course management system.
